Job Description
Job Summary:
The Machine Operator (Heat Treat) is responsible for producing quality parts for our customers. Operators will review production schedules and work orders to determine processing sequences, furnace temperatures, shaping specifications and heat cycle requirement for parts to be heat-treated.
Essential Functions:
- Studies blueprints, manuals, dispatch specifications to determine dimension and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements
- Locate and retrieve parts with carts or stand up forklift
- Load and unload parts into furnace, with the use of cranes
- Set up furnace loads to correct temperature, working with extreme heat
- Physically move parts to next stage
- Ability to operate presses, cranes and machines
- Learn all aspects of Heat Treat processes, such as quenching, normalizing solutions, first temper, scrapping, final temper, etc
- Conduct hardness testing and inspection work
- Carries out day-to-day work following the departments continuous improvement plan
Certifications/Licenses:
- Forklift certified
- ANSI Y14.5
- Certificate of Thermal Processing
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of heat treat process
- Forging experience desired but not required
- Able to read and understand blue prints
- Basic shop math skills for set-up of machine and to follow specifications
- Able to work within specific time lines
- Effectively work with calipers and scales
- Able to safely handle large parts
- Must be accurate and detailed with minimum errors
- Perform job with minimum of supervision
- Work within a team environment
- Respond with sensitivity to people of diverse perspectives
Schedule:
Monday - Friday
Hours:
3:00pm - 11:30 pm
Payrate:
$19.00 - $20.00
